Our Volunteers
BACE has an amazing team of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds who support the charity with either fundraising and/or travelling out with us to support the physical building work. It is our aim to explore specific volunteer programmes for individuals who can offer a wide range of skills, initiative, and energy to help us progress with our projects within the Bonsa Community.
All of the Trustees and Volunteers pay for their own travel, food and accommodation each trip. Here are just some of their stories:
-
Father Alan Everett - The Parish of St Clement and St James, West London
In February 2011, Francis Mendy came to speak about the work of BACE at our two churches. People responded warmly both to him and to the project - and gave generously to our Lent appeal.
In March 2014, with my wife and two teenage daughters, I experienced the project at first hand, as we helped paint the new health centre.

Dear Tracy, Paul, Charlotte, Howard and Laura.
Within hours of being in Bonsa I knew that I would like to give something to show my appreciation, gratitude and support for the fantastic work that you all do and BACE does.
-
John and Sue White
My wife Sue and I first went to Gambia with BACE in November 2011 to help build a school for a village called Bonsa which was well off the beaten track about 30 miles from the tourist area around Banjul. Children between the age of 3 and 7 could not safely walk the 5 miles across rough country to the nearest school.

Richard Collier-Keywood
I volunteered with BACE for the first time in 2012 in helping to build Favour Nursery School and was really proud of what we accomplished. However, when we were there it became clear that this area has no effective medical care.
