In March 2013 after intensive research and bench marking other clinics, the Trustees purchased 2 acres of land to build the BACE Primary Healthcare Clinic.

The construction of this clinic is in response to a local need for accessible and local treatment. In bush villages, minor aliments can often become fatal if not treated early enough and we have a responsibility to both our students and their families to stop this happening.

This project is aimed at complementing the Gambian Government in making health facilities accessible to all Gambians, and once open the facility will support a 20,000 strong catchment area.

During 2014 we worked with our supporters to raise the money to build a primary health care clinic which now consists of 2 consultation rooms, storage and office space, a labour/maternity room, a waiting area plus a shower and toilet facilities. All of which is supported by solar power to ensure electricity is 24/7.

We officially opened this clinic in 2014 with the support of the Gambia Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, and it was a very proud and emotional experience during our trip in November 2014, to stand alongside 32 volunteers from the UK, the children of the school, their families and other villagers, in addition dignitaries of the Gambia Education and Medical board attended to officially open the BACE Primary Health Care Clinic.

The clinic provides essential maternity services and it was a proud moment for us all when our first two babies were born at the clinic in December 2014.

We now have three full time nurses working at the centre and over the next few months we hope to extend our services further. We recently purchased an ambulance to allow us to transport patients to the main hospital in Banjul in emergencies.
